Significant reclamation activities <br />were accomplished during 2003. A total of 12.9 acres were mulched and seeded. A summary of these <br />activities fallows. <br />West Portal <br />Final Reclamation of disturbance areas associated with the West Portal was initiated in 2003. Structure <br />removal of the core house was completed as was partial removal of the WP Industrial Building. <br />The area encompassing the south access road running from the coal lab to the rail road maintenance shop, <br />the # I Warehouse (removed in 2003) and a coal stockpile area were graded to final contour, covered with <br />4-6" of topsoil, and mulched and seeded in April of 2003. <br />Pond 5 was reclaimed as mining related activities to be serviced by this pond were never initiated. The <br />pond embankment was pushed in and the area graded to final contour, covered with 4-6" of topsoil in late <br />April of 2003. <br />An old material storage yard lying east of pond 5 was graded to final contour, covered with 4" of topsoil, <br />and mulched and seeded in late April of 2003. <br />The exposed south and east facing slopes of the Development Waste Disposal Area were <br />con[emporaneouslyraclaimed in accordance with specifications approved in Technical Revision - 47. This <br />area was mulched and seeded in March of 2003. <br />Topsoil Borrow Area, topsoil was salvaged and the azea regazded to final contour. Portions of the Non Coal <br />Waste Disposal Area and the West Portal Manway and Yard were regarded to final contour. <br />
