The Division has two remaining concerns that
need to be addressed by Washington County.
I. The applicant located three new roads to be constructed to facilitate the mining operation. Please
state if these roads will be reclaimed once mining is complete. Please describe how the roads will be
reclaimed (necessary backfilling, topsoil replacement and reseeding) to achieve the postmining land
use.
2. The applicant provided a letter from Y-W Electric Association, Inc. regarding structures located on
the permit area. Five conditions were noted in the letter regarding the structural stability of mining
within 200 feet of the power poles and associated lines. Washington County will need to commit to
the five conditions outlined by Y-W Electric Association, Inc. if mining is to take place closer than
200 feet to the structures. Please commit to these conditions.
Please be advised that Shook Gravel Pit #I New Permit Application may be deemed inadequate, and the
application may be denied on May 30, 2001 unless the above mentioned adequacy review items are
addressed to the satisfaction of the Division. If you feel more time is needed to complete your reply, the
Division can grant an extension to the decision date. This will be done upon receipt of a written waiver of
your right to a decision by May 30, 2001 and request for additional time. This must be received no later
than the deadline date.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
~~ J
L' ~~~
Erica Crosby
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Carl Mount; DMG
