Roger Funston's letter of June 7, 1978 was further <iiscussed
during his visit July 7, 1978. The following should sutlply any
additional information desired for record purposes.
1. E:CiIBIT B - Mining Plan
A. Attached is a cross-section sketch, typical. of this
small quarry where 15,000 to 20,000 tons oi~ Dakota
sandstone is quarried annually.
B. The 50 to 60-ft. thick band of better quality sandstone
is indicated on the cross-section as is the: anticipated
quarry depth. A lower 35' bench could be excavated in-
side the east .claim boundary. This would however be
much later as roadway access must be maintained to
future quarry areas.
2. Seeding, Fertilization and Revegetation--attached is
a letter dated July 6, 1978 from Mr. McCarty, the
District Soil Conservation Service Conservationist,
in response to our request for a recommended seeding
mixture and fertilization. Please note the letter
recommends waiting until mining is completed .
Mr. McCarty's recommended seeding mixture for the
very similar Slab Canyon Quarry is as follows and should
be satisfactory for current application purposes.
Needle and Thread 10 lbs. pure line seed p/acre
Little Bluestem 5 lbs.
