The mining plan submitted is rather brief and should be expanded to
provide a comprehensive description of operations. For example, you
should indicate the thickness of topsoil to be stripped and
stockpiled (this is required by law and data should be obtained from
the SCS after their site visit), topsoil should be salvaged from the
haul road too. Also, you should indicate the maximum depth to be
mined and the approximate depth to ground water.
2. As a stabilization measure you should plant the topsoil stockpile
with a perennial grass cover (Rule 6.4(x)). We would recommend you
plant it with 15 lbs/acre western wheatgrass and llbjacre yellow
sweetclover, broadcast and raked into the soil.
3. You should describe the type of crossing which will be used to ford
Plum Creek, its sizing criteria and measures which will be taken to
minimize erosion of fill (if used).
4. Rule l.l(2) includes access roads under the definition of "affected
land" and such roads are to be included in the permit acreage.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
