~~ ~~,~ ~ , o ~ ~~ II I I II I II I II IIII III Doc Date:, 2/1112001 <br />5l~ <br />2.04 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING <br />• ACTIVITIES <br />2.04.1 Objectives <br />The following is a complete description of the environmental resources at and adjacent [o the <br />Golden Eagle mining operation. <br />2.04.2 Responsibilities <br />Basin Resources, Inc. is providing information required under this section to illustrate and <br />describe the environmental resources, which may he affected by the Golden Eagle mining <br />operation. <br />2.04.3 General Requirements: Site Description and Land Use Inforrna[ion <br />(I)-(4) The primary land use of the disturbed area was rangeland and irrigated pasture prior to <br />the development of the Golden Eagle mine. Areas adjacent to the surface facilities consist of <br />irrigated pasture, rangeland, fish and wildlife habitat and industrial land uses. The location of <br />these land uses are shown on Map 4, Premining Land Use. Table 4-A, Acreage of Land Use <br />to be Affected, is a tabulation of acres for the land uses within the permit boundary and those <br />to be affected within the surface disturbance areas. Table 4-B, Acreage By Land Use of <br />Areas Affected by Mining (1998 Permit Boundary Revision) is a tabulation of acres by land <br />use within the 1998 revised permit boundary subsequent to mine closure and fmal reclamation <br />activities. <br />Within the 1998 permit boundary, a total of 60.54 acres have been disturbed by surface <br />• operations, which includes 49.82 acres of rangeland, 2.5 acres of Industrial Use, and 8.22 <br />acres of pastureland. In addition, 108.6 acres has been approved for an Industtial Use post- <br />mining land use classification. Bond release has been approved for the industrial use areas; <br />and, these areas are no longer classified as nor included as disturbed areas relative to mining. <br />No additional disturbance due to mining is expected. <br />Of the total of 1146.4 acres within the permit area, 108.6 acres are industrial land (railroad <br />and methane gas production) use, 794.1 acres are wildlife land use, I I I.I acres are <br />Rangeland, 98.7acres of Subdivided Ranchette, and 33.9 acres are pastureland. The permit <br />area consists of four parcels. Their metes and bounds description follows: <br />NORTHWEST LONG WALL PARCEL (Lands north of highway 12 containing 985 acres <br />mare or less.) <br />Traversing along the south line of section 21 T33SR67W from the SE section comer a <br />distance of 2300 feet to the point of beginning.
