RE: Mundell Estate No. 32 Pit (File M-95-019) Results of adequacy
review of permit application
Dear Mr. Miller:
I have reviewed the above referenced permit application for
adequacy and have identified the following problems:
EXHIBIT C-Mining Plan: Rule 6.3.3 of the Mineral Rules
indicates the required content of this Exhibit and also states
that the elements of the Mining Plan must be correlated with
the Exhibit E Map which has not entirely been done. A
detailed listing of what must appear on the Exhibit E Map, eg.
direction of mining, topsoil stockpiles, will be made under a
subsequent reference to that Exhibit.
The application does not provide an estimate of the quantity
of waste rock or overburden that will be removed in order to
reach the clay bed that the Division understands is the
\,~.n objective of the mining. The Division does understand that
1~,~1/~.r~j'J this material is to be used " on road sides" rather than
~q replaced as part of site reclamation. If used to widen, thus
~~Iw ~`~!~ ~i improve, the access road to the pit, the improved access road
~~' must be added to the permit area and included in the estimate
AI)1` of the permit area. Please provide an estimate of the amount
~~, bb~~ ,~P of waste rock or overburden to be removed and indicate on what
PAvn / roads the material will be used.
The application does not indicate the dimensions of the road
to be used as access to the permit area. The Division
understands that this is an existing ranch road and will not
~~" be reclaimed following completion of mining, but the
dimensions need to be provided. Please provide the dimensions
of the access road to be used.
~ ~~ The reclamation plan described under Exhibit D speaks to the
possible need of a diversion on the upper side of the pit to
,I~S~ convey surface runoff around the pit area. Please indicate if
