O'Connor's letter to Mr. and Mrs.
John D. Schmahl, dated January 9, 1984, I am advised that
Mr. O'Connor has left the Mined Land Reclamation Div- sion
and that you are the person now responsible for over eeing
this application. Although in a previous letter, I ' ndicated
that I would attempt to deal with the questions and roposals -
in the January 9th letter in one letter, I find that that is
not the most expeditious way of proceeding, and I am therefore
writing this letter to deal with some of those issue All of
the issues are being dealt with here and when we hav resolutions
to the balance of the issues, I will forward them to you for your
consideration.
A. Exhibit D - Mining Plan
1. Mr. Schmahl has only one set of equipment. The quipment
will be moved from parcel A to Parcel B and back aga'n periodi-
cally, during the course of a year. Flo activity wil take
place on both parcels at the same time, but both oar els will
be disturbed at the same time.
2. The anticipated life of the mine is 30 years.
3. Mining will never occur below the level of Highw y 141.
Some of the outcroppings that will be removed have a elevation
of appropriately 250 above Highway 141.
4. We have been in contact with Grand Valley Rural lower
Company and will be submitting an agreement regardin this
power line. We have revised our Mining Plan (page 5) so as
to avoid mining anywhere under or near the power lin .
