<br />Introduction
<br />On 12/30/97, DMG issued its recommendation for approval of the Stone Gravel Pit
<br />application, over objections. This document is intended to explain the process by which
<br />DMG arrived at its approval recommendation over objections.
<br />Application for the Stone Gravel Pit was submitted on 10/1 /97. The application proposes
<br />a surface sand and gravel extraction and processing operation, located approximately 6
<br />miles southwest of Cortez, Colorado, 158.18 acres affected area. Mineral rights for the
<br />permit area are owned by the applicant. Hov:ever, surface lands are federal and managed
<br />by Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
<br />We are hereby incorporating the BLM Environmental Analysis document, dated 1120/98, in
<br />toto (but not necessarily the six stipulations to the permit recommended by the BLM).
