III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
999
•
S~ INTRODUCTION
Energy Fuels Coal Incorporated (EFCI) utilizes an extensive drainage and
sediment control plan consisting of sedimentation ponds, clean water
diversions, sediment and refuse collection ditches, catchment basins and
culverts to control surface runoff within the Southfield mine and loadout
permit areas and limit contributions of suspended solids to receiving
drainages. Presently, three (3) sedimentation ponds and two (2) water-
use ponds exist within the mine area, and two (2) sedimentation ponds
exist at the coal loadout area. Specifically, the existing ponds are as
follows:
Doc Date:12/11/2001
o Mine Area Ponds
- Sedimentation Pond No. 1
- Water Treatment and Recycle Pond No. 2
- freshwater Pond No. 3
• - Sedimentation Pond No. 4
- Sedimentation Pond No. 5
o Loadout Area Ponds
- Sedimentation Pond L1
- Sedimentation Pond L2
Two (2) clean water diversions currently exist within the Southfield mine
area and serve to divert undisturbed runoff around the mine area to
natural drainages. The diversions are as follows:
o Magpie Creek Diversion
o Permanent Diversion No. 1
Magpie Creek Diversion presently functions as a temporary structure and
upon final reclamation it will be upgraded to a permanent structure.
Permanent Diversion No. 1 is designed and presently functions as a
• permanent structure. Designs for both configurations are included.
A number of sediment collection ditches exist within the mine area and
loadout area which route surface runoff from the disturbed areas to the
I
