Dept. of Natural Resources
Re: Gold Hill Mining Company Application for
tdining and Reclamation Permit, pursuant
to CRS 1973, 34-32-101
Gentlemen:
The undersigned is interested in and represents the
owners of certain claims and parcels of real property which
are adjacent to mining land which is either claimed by or
leased to the applicant, Gold Hill Mining Company. The
properties which the undersigned has an interest and represents
the owners of are generally referred to as the Black Cloud
properties and the Slide Mines properties.
A review of the applicant's submittals to the Board
suggests several areas of concern before the requested
permits be granted.
The applicant suggests that certain operations or
reprocessing will take place on the existing dump site of
the Cash mine. In this connection, it is suggested that the
dump site will be reduced by some 40%.
The applicant does not suggest or disclose the disposition
of the 40% by which the dump is to be reduced. Obviously,
this material must be disposed somewhere and it is not clear
whether this disposition is to take place on the applicant's
property or elsewhere. It is not realistic to assume that
the entire 40% will be processed and removed as economic
