Purpose for ITEC's presence is to satisfy compliance
with water balance and demonstrate good faith by ITEC, a prospective operator, under
permit #M-94-117
The March 31st, 1998 inspection noted potential problems most of which were
caused by weather and improper drainage of standing water.
The priority was to have the closed circuit (pond -Hazel "A" -pond) rehabilitated
and functional, in a closed loop. Secondly, to concentrate our efforts on the evaporation
system much of which was below ice covering the pond. The third item that required
immediate attention was the first quarter water sampling, quarter ending March 31, 1998.
On March 31st, 1998 Bruce J. Bevirt, Owner of Environmental Investigations, Inc.
took water samples from four (4) wells, Hazel -"A" water, pond water and Left Hand
ditch, east of bridge at permitted diversion area.
On Apri12, 1998 two (2) persons were given a temporary assignment to secure the
piping system, repair all leaks and potential discharges and to bring the water balance into
compliance prior to April 16, 1998.
An April 3, 1998 inspection by Wm. Ernest Simmons did not detect any discharge
from the approved circuit. The main pump behind the Hazel "A" bulkhead was sufficient
to maintain freeboazd but was worn and could not pump enough water to reach -12" from
the dam crest.
