This slide area was examined during the Division's field inspection of
March 17, 1998. The Division appreciates the notification provided by Bowie Resources.
The Division agrees with Bowie Resources that remediation work should not begin until
the ground has dried up. However, the Division is requesting additional information
concerning the proposed remediation plan, as well as the implementation of a slope
monitoring plan until the repair work can be performed.
Concerning the proposed remediation plan, the Division requests two things. First, the
Division requests that Bowie Resources provide additional descriptive data on the slide
area as it presently is. This data should include sketches of the longitudinal and cross-
sectional profile views of the slide, the amount of displacement at the head scarp, an
estimation of the volume of material that slid, and an estimate of the pre-slide slope
grade.
Second, the Division requests that Bowie Resources provide the details of a proposed
remediation plan, along with information that would document that this plan will result in
astable repaired slope. The details of the proposed plan should include longitudinal and
DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources
131 J Sherman $I., Room ? I i
Denver.
