Bob Liddle
Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
Dear ?ir. Savage and Mr. Liddle:
This letter will serve as a progress report in response to your Marr Strip
inspection reports dated March 4, and April 13, 1981. As you know, since these
inspections, Kerr Coal Company has made major cutbacks in employment and coal
production due to the loss of its largest customer. In this regard, the company
though committed to its environmental and reclamation efforts, is limited in
expedience with which certain requirements can be accomplished.
Three problems and associated recommendations were noted in the March 4,
1981 inspection report. Following is a summary of each along with its status.
1. Clear the culvert crossing the haulroad of the entrance to the tipple
and deepen the ditch below it.
This is being accomplished presently.
2. Update and replace the identification and permit sign at the tipple by
March 31, 1981.
This was accomplished by the deadline date, but the wrong permit number
was inadvertantly used. The correct permit number will be painted on
the sign within the next week.
3. Topsoil pile east of the overburden stockpile needs to be moved to
an approved location by March 31, 1981.
Although not accomplished by the March 31, 1981 deadline, the topsoil
in question has been moved to an approved location.
The inspection report dated April 13, 1981 noted eight problems and recom-
mendations. Following is a summary and progress report on each.
