Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
Enclosed aze copies of U.S. Forest Service correspondence, dated May 23, 2003, and a copy of
the Division's response, dated June 9, 2003. As noted, the U.S.F.S recommends that we maintain
a reclamation bond in the amount of $3,000 for this operation. In addition, the U.S.F.S. states
that they currently hold a $900 cash bond for the operation.
The Division determined that the required financial warranty amounted to $4,905.00; much more
than recommended by the Forest Service. You submitted the required bond so a permit was
issued.
You may want to present this information, as well as copies of the bonding documents, to the
Forest Service so they can review all existing bonding information regazding this mining
operation. In addition, you may want to request a release of your $900.00 cash bond or, if you
elect to do so, request a reduction of your existing bond that we retain. The Division requires a
$4,905.00 bond. If the Forest Service decides to hold a $900.00 bond, the Division would only
need $4,005.00.
If you have any questions, please give me a call at 303-866-4060.
Sincerely,
James Dillie
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: Harry Posey (e-mail)
Enclosures
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
