For this reason,
single species representing life forms need to be reestablished at a
relative importance from 3% to 40% in order to insure that there are
minimum numbers (>3%) which will survive in the post-mining community,
but not so many (~40%) as to dominate the revegetated community. I
feel we must keep the individual species designation rather than
incorporate the "suite of species" proposed by Coors.
Coors has incorporated six~(6) cool season grasses in the approved
seed mix, of which four (4) are introduced species with well known
rapid establishment characteristics. The Division feels that the
requirement for the reestablishment of two cool season grasses at the
proposed levels is both prudent and conservative, in the light of the
individual species which is being replaced, and the total number of
cool season grasses to be seeded.
P
