In all
cases, the reports clearly stated what corrective actions were required, and by what date, for the
problems to be abated. The problems involve several sites. I will not reiterate the entire text of
the problem or the corrective action, but will summarize some important points to refresh your
memory. For complete descriptions of the problems and corrective actions, please refer to the
appropriate inspection report.
The following is a list of the outstanding problems:
Durant Pit, Permit No. M-78-325, inspected 12/12/97.
Subject: Topsoil. There was no stockpile evident, though it is required for use in reclamation. A
statement is required outlining the salvage, obtaining and protection of topsoil.
Correction date: 2/28/98.
(Another problem at this site, involving lack of a good boundary map and onsite markers, must be
corrected by 5/31/98. This is not late yet, but timely action on your part is important.)
Lumsden Canyon Pit, Permit :fqo. M-83-216, inspected 11/6/97.
Subject: Soil erosion and Topsoil. Topsoiled slopes were eroding, requiring more grading plus
revegetation. A statement is required outlining, and committing to, remedial tasks.
Correction date: 12/15/97.
Wright Draw Pit, Permit No. Iv1-83-2] 5, inspected 11/6/97.
Subject: Boundary markers. None were observed, though they are required. Proof of installation
is required to be submitted to this office.
Correction date: 12/15/97.
11
