These
responses are in the form of a letter and attachments from Richard Fox
dated 4/12/96. One of the attachments to Mr. Fox's letter is a set of
water quality data from a sample of Hazel-A water. Per your request, a
copy of the water quality data sheet is enclosed with this correspondence.
The water quality data for the Hazel-A water that is proposed to be land
applied indicate that the Hazel-A water is contaminated beyond standards
established for drinking water, human health, and aquatic life for certain
parameters. The following table is illustrative in that regard:
Table of Metals from Hazel-A
Data that Exceed Standards
Drinking Water Human Health Aquatic Life
(chronic,
hardness = 100)
Zron Mercury Copper
Manganese Selenium Iron
Mercury
Selenium
Silver
Zinc
In addition, the sulfate data submitted with these analytical results are
out of character with what would be expected given the hardness and metals
values determined for the sample. Regardless of the level of
contamination of the Hazel-A water, and the questionable nature of the
COLORADO
