:-

~_
Letter to Richard Fanvo -2- AUril 12. 1996
sulfate analysis, the Division is approving the installation of the land
application system. This approval is based on the similarity of the
Hazel-A water with the natural ground water at the site, as determined by
sampling and analysis of the four monitoring wells below the pond, and on
COM, Inc.'s commitment to operate the system in such a way that runoff
from the land application area will not occur.
The Division will require that Hazel-A water be sampled for analysis once
per week during the time period that the system is in operation, and that
these analyses be provided to the Division as soon as they are received
from the lab. The Division will further specify that the spray
evaporation system in the tailing pond be operated as the priority
mechanism for disposing of process water at the Gold Hill Mill, and that
the land application system be utilized only as necessary to maintain a
negative water balance at the site.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
7
Allen Sorenson
Reclamation Specialist
enclosure(s)
cc: Richard Fox (w/o enclosures)
Gwen Fraser (w/ enclosures)
Kathleen Sullivan (w/ enclosures)
Bob Mason (w/ enclosures)
Mark Steen (w/ enclosures)
Evan Freirich (w/ enclosures)
Doug Parker (w/ enclosures)
C:\WP51\GOLDHILL.AP2
