The Applicants shall be responsible for compliance
with this plan, but the State Engineer's Office may also pursue the landowner, for eventual
compliance. The required fee of $1,343 for the substitute water supply plan has been paid.
This plan describes the proposed water uses through the 10-year "Operations Period" of this
new mining operation. The anticipated maximum depletion for this plan is 32.1 acre-feet per
year for up to 8.0 acres of exposed lake surface. Of this amount, the plan proposes to replace
21.5 acre-feet per year of out-of-priority depletions that occur during the irrigation season (April
through October).
You have provided a monthly breakdown of the maximum annual depletions consisting of 24.3
acre-feet of evaporative loss from a maximum of 8.0 acres of exposed groundwater, 2.2 acre-
feet of water lost with mining of up to 75,000 tons of aggregate per year, 2.8 acre-feet of losses
from water used for dust suppression and 2.8 acre-feet of water used in concrete production.
No phreatophyte credit has been applied to this plan.
This current proposed plan anticipates dry mining of the Una Gravel Pit byway of a dewatering
trench. The maximum anticipated 8.0 acres of exposed groundwater represents the area that
would be exposed if the dewatering operation was discontinued. The dewatering trench and
aggregate mining area are to be located greater than 100 feet from the Colorado River. The
Applicant has provided a monthly schedule of lagged depletions to the river system resulting from
losses at this site.
The proposed source of replacement for this pit is 23.7 acre-feet of Wolford Mountain Reservoir
water leased from the Colorado River Water Conservation District. A 10 percent transit loss has
been accounted for in the lease agreement to account for the delivery of 21.5 acre-feet per year to
~n
