MCC concurs with the Division concerning compliance with all aspects of Rules
2.05.6(6) and 4.20 and other applicable rules. MCC has made and continues to make every effort
to comply with the Rules and to work with the landowner.
Set forth below are MCC's responses to the Division's request for information:
A detailed map of all surface cracks observed during the July 23, 1996 inspection.
Please find enclosed a map which shows the topography (from 1992 photo flight), mine
workings outline, the two reservoirs of concern, the six locations identified by CDMG
during the July inspection, and the landslide area mapped by Dames & Moore in 1993.
MCC has also provided additional descriptions of the observed ground cracks. MCC
conducted additional ground surveys on July 31 and August 5 to locate any additional '
cracks and determined that the area surveyed during the July inspection encompasses all the
affected land. The Lone Pine Road and the "Down Hill Only Road" referenced in Mrs.
Mautz' July 10, 1996 letter are not within the same area as the ground cracks in Section 24.
These roads are near the cabin, approximately two miles east of the mining that is occurring
in Jumbo Mountain. During the July inspection, Fadra was unable to locate the cracks on
the "Down Hill Only Road". The Lone Pine road was not traveled during the inspection.
These two roads are provided on an additional map with possible locations noted with a
question mark. This map is also enclosed.
2. A detailed analysis regarding the cause of the observed features. Please find enclosed a
report completed by Dames & Moore in 1993 titled, "Landslide Investigation Report,
Jumbo Mountain, Somerset, Colorado". MCC plans to have a representative from Dames
& Moore present during the August 27, 1996 meeting to evaluate the ground cracks.
