Mr. Dan Mathews
a,~'~ ~;;~,~ a Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
rro~~u,+,.cooy~,m+~ 2148 Broadway, #CS
Grand ]unction, CO 81503
RE: Response to Order to Revise Permit
Technical Revision 53
Deserado Mine (Permit C-81-018)
Deaz Dan:
JAN 1 6 2001
Enclosed are the remaining response items to the Order to Revise Permit issued August 30.
Response to Order to Revise Permit:
1.) Mappine of disturbed area.
The disturbed area boundary is provided on Map 147 (attached).
2.) Table V-3 has been revised to include areas that may have been inadvertently left out.
Reference to County Road 65 has been removed. All degas boreholes, rock dust boreholes,
and development drilling and associated disturbances are now accounted for on this table. [n
addition a sepazate line item was added for staging/laydown areas. The current accounting of
total acreage now closely follows the total acreage in the bond calculations, when current
disturbance is adjusted for at the Refuse Area. A revise "Application Form for a Revision" is
attached which will raise the "disturbed area" by 69 acres to 477 acres. This is only an
accounting adjustment and does not reflect any additional disturbance activity. No
accounting was made of "current" vs. "approved" disturbance since a detailed search of
records back to the original permit issuance would be necessary. Even then, it is likely that
an `approved' disturbed acreage would be difficult to accurately determine. Our current
disturbance should closely reflect the permitted disturbance. The only notable permitted
disturbance, besides additional refuse areas which require additional approvals prior to
construction, is the Return Shaft WMVS #1. Additional incidental disturbance may occur
due to maintenance of culverts and ditches where access is currently limited. In these cases
disturbances are kept to a minimum.
3.) Previously completed.
4.) Map 147 has been revised to include all small area exemptions. The depiction of
underground workings has been removed from this map since it does not provide information
necessary for the reader that is not included elsewhere.
5.)
