The following are some general comments which will help you to
interpret my calculations. In all cases I have used Trapper's estimations of
volumes, as did Mike Savage in the original bond check. My calculation
worksheets are enclosed.
Backfilling and Grading
Review of Trapper's backfilling costs showed that they overestimated
production for the D-9's from the Caterpillar Handbook. A comparison of these
calculations show: Trapper, 21,064 hrs., Mike S., 26,538.6 hrs., Jeff, 27,585
hrs.. These total hours can then either be multiplied by the current Blue
Book rental rate ($185.56), with a Wagner Equipment estimate ($132.03), or
with some adjusted figure in between. The total cost for this item can
therefore range from $3.6 mil. to $5.1 mil.. I did contact Wagner, and they
indicated that for a long term lease we could approach similar costs at this
time.
Retopsoiling
Trapper's production rates for
recalculations (4,270 vs. 4,19
In fact Trapper's retopsoiling
recalculation.
Revegetation
retopsoiling were consistent with my
6 hrs.). The rental rates were also similar.
costs are approximately $100,000 more than my
In looking at Trapper's revegetation costs, I feel that they have
overestimated production in terms of the number of acres per hour which can be
completed for a given treatment. I do not have any reference to substantiate
this. Rather, it is an estimate derived from personal experience. These
production differences were generically applied (i.e. % increase) to Trapper's
costs, resulting in a $120,000 increase in total cost.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
