Lochhead
Esecutive Dneaor
Michael B. Long
Division Director
The Division recently transmitted comments to you as a result of our preliminary adequacy review of
your application for Technical Revision No. 77. In addition to those comments, we are in need of the
following:
1. Please provide an estimate of the reclamationcosts associated withthe revision (pond, diversion
ditches, any access or light use roads). This disturbance, while included in the proposed
renewal application estimate which has yet to be approved, is not covered in the existing
performance bond.
2. The Division received comments on the application from the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
A copy of their letter is enclosed. Please provide to the Division an estimate of any water
depletion, including that from evaporation, which is expected to occur as a result of
construction of the West Flume Gulch pond. We will forward that information to the Office
of Surface Mining which will coordinate a formal consultation with the Fish and Wildlife
Service.
Should you or your staff have questions or need additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely,
GPiI.
Susan L Burgmaier
Environmental Protection Specialist
SLB\0717978.
