•
MAY 05 1995
Mr. Thomas A. Schreiner
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geology
Dept. of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Mr. Schreiner:
• III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
~wls~on or Iv„nerals a Geology
Re: Permit No. M-77-219
This is in response to your review and letter of April 13, 1995
regarding our amendment application.
1. The existing highwall for pit No. 1 is for the most part
along only the north side of this pit. As mining progresses
to the north, the highwall will move northward, but should
not increase in length. The area to the south of the
highwall will continually be backfilled and graded as mining
progresses northward. Thus, there should be no significant
increase in highwall length.
when pit No. 1 is eventually connected to pit No. 2, most of
the highwall will be eliminated during the stripping of the
final segment. This would leave only backfilled areas
surrounding the final segment to be mined. These slopes
would require final grading and seeding but only minimal
slope reduction.
In summary, the current plan would not generate additional
highwall. The highwall would generally move northward and
eventually be eliminated as part of the normal stripping and
mining.
2. We would propose to use a seed mixture similar to that
listed in your April 13, 1995 letter.
3. The cost of mobilization of earth moving equipment was
included in the estimated cost for reducing highwall, final
grading and seeding. This equipment would most likely be
one dozer and one medium size scraper.
GREEN BOULEVARD MEXICO, MISSOURI 65265 U. $.
