Colorado 80203
Re: Hallenbeck Pit ~kl, Adequacy Review - Addendum
7. The overeteepened slopes on the southern edge of the
disturbed area contain significant gully erosion. These
include t-he outalope downgradient of the equipment etor-
aye yard and the outelope downgradient of the olfice and
shop. Please address how these slopes will be repaired
and reclaimed.
Reply Item 7
The word "significant" erosion is in our opinion an ex-
aggerati~~n of the temporary slope condiCion. We felt
that an expert opinion should address this. We deliv-
ered a copy of your. letter to the Delta County Soil Con-
servation Service for their recommendation, Paul Obert
had inspected the site late in Decemhr:.r of 1993 and did
not• fee]. it waA a significant issue, although he made an
additi,on:e] inspection March 24. Following i.e his reply,
Please refer to the Conversion Application, Mining
Plan-Gxhibit:. D, item a and f!e)); "The overburden moved
in the first 15 years will be used to reclaim." Benson
Brothers do not have a specific timetable but more
overburden will be moved to the elope in question, and
Certainly provide control beet suited to restrict ero-
sion. Benson Brothers Aggregate certainly appreciate
Paul Obert'a time and advice and will follow hie recom-
mendations as Plan A, Plan D or Plan C etc.
Sincerely,
,~ St/l~.coti_.
Katie Benson 1138J~JORuo,!
Arrri,r, CO 81410
PAX303-e3J-8J67 PHUNE303-R3J-3138
