-~
~t,~4~n-ii f~zc.l
February 13, 2003
State of Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology
Office of Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Sirs:

FEB ?'7;
Orv7sion of Minerals and faolo9Y
Re: Bayfteld Pit No. 1, Pertnk No. M-87-038 La Plata~County
Pursuant to Rule 4.16.1 of the Mineral Rules and Regulation of the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board, we are submitting this application for a Technical Revision to the
Reclamation Plan for the above-captioned gravel pit.
The landowner has modified his plans for post-mining use of a portion of the permitted area, and
the changes to the Reclamation Plan proposed below are in response to the landowner's request
(see attached letter from the landowner).
The current Reclamation Plan provides for spreading topsoil on the slopes of the two ponds
created in the western portion of the permit area, and reseeding the slopes to return the area to
pasture. We wish to revise the Plan to use pit run material for the sloping, and leave the pit run
as exposed surface in order to create a natural appearance around the ponds. Slope gradients
would remain unchanged at 3:1. Seeding, fertilizing and weed control would occur in accordance
with the existing Plan. However, vegetation coverage on the slopes will be significantly less,
given the rocky, gravelly nature of the pond banks. The landowner also requests that we leave
the existing access road in place that runs east-west between the ponds. This will serve as
access to a proposed homesite. A map is attached which depicts these proposed changes.
Very truly yours,
~.~~
Don L. Gosney
Gosney & Sons, Inc.
Operator
P.O.
