Belt Out Back: Permit C-82-056. Twentvmile
Coal COmDanV
Dear Mr. Gorham:
Enclosed, please find the revised materials which pertain to the above-referenced minor
revision request. TCC is requesting this revision to allow the construction of a conveyor
belt, drive structure, belt take-up, and control building which will move coal from the
secondary crusher building out to the ROM coal pile. The location of the proposed belt,
drive structure, and control building is denoted on the enclosed Map 24 (Surface
Facilities). As previously discussed, the belt and associated items will be constructed
within a previously disturbed area, and is located within the existing drainage control
system. As such, there will be no topsoil activities associated with this revision, and it
is not anticipated that any significant drainage modifications will be entailed.
Construction of the belt will utilize the existing secondary crusher building for the tailpiece
assembly and tail support, and will entail the construction of two bents and an elevated
drive structure for support of the main 48" belt structure. In addition, it is possible that
the belt take-up may require an additional concrete support slab immediately adjacent to
the east wall of the secondary crusher, but this is dependent upon final take-up location
and is uncertain at this time. TCC has included the costs for this additional slab in the
enclosed bond calculation in the event this slab becomes necessary.
The support bents will be of typical steel construction, with the furthermost bent being
of 4-leg construction, while the inner bent will be of 2-leg construction. These bents will
be supported by 48" diameter concrete piers extending approximately 25 feet down to
bedrock. These piers will be connected by grade beams (footers) approximately 1'x4'x18'
to form the foundations. The drive structure will be a steel frame construction elevated
on four 30" piers which will also extend approximately 25' to bedrock. The 12'x16'x10'
MCC building will be of typical steel construction, and will be placed on a 12'x16'x6" slab
constructed over 1'w x 4'd foundation footers. Soil removed for the installation of the
slabs and piers will be used to backfill around the piers, or will be spread out depending
on the situation.
