Box 42
Gunnison, Colorado 81230
RE: Revision Adequacy, Dickerson Granite Pit
Revision No. TR-02
Dear Mr. Wilcox:
Permit No. M-78-305,
of oOro
„e j
~6
• rl Q .
~r a
Ray Romer
Governor
Michel B. Long
Division Director
Additional information and clarifications are required for your technical
revision submittal to be considered adequate for approval under the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Act. Please respond to each item on the following list
prior to January 8, 1993 in order to resolve any outstanding issues prior to
the January meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. Correspondence
received from the National Park Service detailing their concerns with this
pit, as well as your response to Park Service concerns, were given
consideration in compilation of this list.
Submit a plan showing how runoff from disturbed areas, piled materia] and
operating surfaces will be managed to protect against pollution of
surface water both during and after the operation.
Rule 6.1 of the Mineral Rules and Regulations of the Mined Land
Reclamation Board requires that "grading shall be carried on so as to
create a final topography appropriate to the final land use". Rule
6.1<6) states that "maximum slopes and slope combinations shall be
compatible with the configuration of surrounding conditions and selected
land use". In accordance with these regulations, and considering that
the pit is within a National Recreation Area, measures to blend the mined
area with the surrounding topography will be required for final
reclamation, and a cost for creation of rounded, irregular contouring
will be included in the required bond. Please commit to implementaton of
such measures as part of your reclamation plan,
Please commit to a post-reclamation configuration in which no slopes will
exceed 2:1 except where existing slopes already exceed 2:1. The
topographic map submitted with this revision will be used to determine
existing slope gradients.
Submit a description of the methods of mining to be employed in each
stage of the operation, including a description of the mining and
processing equipment to be utilized.
