The pit is expanded to 40 acres. The expiration date and the quantity of material authorized for removal remains the same: 6/1/2011 and 300,000 cubic yards. The attached stipulations apply to the permit area and replace the previous stipulations of 6/1/2001. You are reminded that there is a seasonal restriction on use of the gravel pit. Due to crucial big game winter range, gravel operations including crushing and other related production operations can only occur between May 1 and November 30. In years when especially warm or snowfree conditions occur during the December 1 through April 30 time period, a variance during the December and March/April period may be granted to temporarily extend mining operations. A variance will only be granted by BLM if the local CDOW officer concurs that impacts to wintering big game would be minimal. Short term authorization to haul material from the pit during the closure period may be granted at any time to resolve public emergencies. The variance must be in writing.
