Crosby, Environmental Protection Specialist
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
Office of Mined Land Reclamation - Minerals Section
1313 Sherman Street, Room #215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Subject: Permit M84-099 - Bailey Pit
Technical Revision: Hall-Irwin Construction Company in cooperation
with Goose Haven Sand & Gravel, Inc.
Dear Erica:
The information provided in this correspondence and attending revised map prepared by
JLB Engineering Consultants is intended to address the concerns expressed in your
correspondence of 17 April 2000. The items follow a reiteration of your comments in
boxes:
1. Rule 6.2.1(2)(b) requires that maps and exhibits be prepared and signed by a
registered land surveyor, professional engineer, or other qualified person. Please
have the maps and exhibits signed in accordance with the Rule.
1. Revised mine plan maps have been prepared in reply to Item #5, below. The new
maps have been signed and the older maps returned unsigned to better segregate
them from the final form to be approved by the Division.
2. TRO-003 included a revised Mining Plan Map depicting the proposed changes. The
changes discussed in TR-003 are significant enough to also change the reclamation
plan. Please revise the reclamation plan map depicting the addition of 9.8 acres to
Lake #1, the 4.3 acres Lake #3 and the changes in shoreline configuration/elevation
with addition of silt. Please also note that islands created will also need to be
depicted on the map and meet the grading requirements of Rule 3.1.5(7).
2. The relocation of existing fill will require some flexibility in order to optimize planned
features. All final grades will conform to Rule 3.1.5(7), including the creation of any
islands. Grades will not exceed 3H:1V, except where such grades, if any, are
greater than 10 feet below the anticipated final water level of the planned lakes.
Upon completion of all features, a final plat will be created depicting the location
and contours, as generally provided for in this Technical Revision.
