While there is bedrock contact at the lowest, southern end of
the lower pit, routing of a lazge surface flow to Taylor Gulch will likely entail
excavation of colluvium materials to expose bedrock continually between the east
shoulder of FS Road 228 and Talyor Gulch. In the event that the bedrock
channel does not tranverse bedrock continually along this path, Colorado Marble
will commit to design and construct an approved routing via technical revision
submittal during the 2007 mining season.
2) The sediment pond structure shown on the future mining disturbance and
reclamation map is intended to help control stone related sediment loss on the
slopes of the waste rock dump below the present elevation of the lower staging
area. The waste rock dump outslope entails about 8 acres maximum slope. The
sediment pond will have arip-rapped spillway designed to handle storm flows of
50 CFS or less over a ten foot spillway dimension. The sediment pond will have
no connection to potential overflow from the lower pit, which will be routed to
discharge directly into sub-drainage azea channel lying west of and draining into
Taylor Gulch.
3) No comment.
