York-Feirn
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Mr. York-Feirn,
._ "~
r\I 7 , IUIi~
~~mned Li?na
.;,~~
.~'.
~b~
M-~z.-0 zq
On May 28, 1992, the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board ordered Gold Hill
Ventures and Colina Oro Molino, Inc. to complete the following corrective action regarding
the Gold Hill Mill's water pumping and utilization scheme:
1. Submit an amendment or technical revision to the Division which describes in
detail and with a narrative and illustrations the water lines, pumps, valves,
water sources and control measures that make up the water management system.
Specify measures that will be used to prevent future unpermitted discharges of
water and water level and water quality monitoring plans.
2. Submit an amendment to the Division which adds acreage to the permit that
includes the offsite disturbance caused by this operation and includes all ground
across which all pipes and pumping lines traverse.
Water rights for the Gold Hill Mill were obtained by the purchase of 20 shares of stock
in the Left Hand Ditch Company. These shares entit]e the mill to a pro-rata share of the water
available from the Left Hand Creek. This water will be drawn from a point of diversion
located on the south bank of Left Hand Creek, on property obtained for this purpose. These
diversions will be made at a maximum rate of 50 gallons per minute. The construction of the
permanent water pumping station at the location selected on the south bank of Left Hand Creek
will be completed prior to commencing milling operations.
From the point of diversion, the water will be pumped 3,900 feet up Akins Gulch in
1
