Toumshio lO.S Range 96W 6ib Priure hleridinn
Dear Mr. Gillis:
I previously wrote to you after our initial telephone conversation regarding the above matter. It is
my understanding that letters written prior to the Nichols official publication are not valid. So, in order to
cover all bases, 1 am again writing to you to express my concerns about this proposed insanity. I have
written to Mesa County and completed a Ci[i=en Conrp/sin[ Intake Form and am enclosing a copy of my
letter to them written this date.
The issues concerning the irnpact to surrounding wildlife and water tables appear to be masers
over which your oftce has concern. It is my concern that an expansion of this gravel pit to 67+ acres
would impact both. Our water well, for example, produces about a gallon a minute. Is this proposed
commercial use of water under the reclamation plan going to impact our water? I wouldn't want to see this
move one inch forward without written impact studies addressing the matter.
We would appreciate your formal review of the matter. Your office certainly has some influence
with Mesa County in matters such as [his, and we would further appreciate any assistance you might be
able to lend in encouraging them to conduct a "Ful! Review" of the Nichold Gravel Pit permit.
Thank you, again.
Sincerely,
i C_
Richard C. and
Ann K.
