Please provide your <br />responses to the following items by April 29, 1994. For the ease of replacement into the <br />current Raton Creek application, responses should be formatted as permit application <br />replacement pages where appropriate. <br />The proposed decision date for TR-14 is currently scheduled for May 6, 1994. Should an <br />extension of this decision date be necessary for the purposes of providing the requested <br />responses, please contact us. <br />1. Rule 2.04.3(4): The post mining land use proposed in the current permit is Rangeland. <br />Please provide a description of current land uses, and land use classifications, under local <br />law, if any, of the permit area and adjacent areas. <br />2. Rule 2.04.9(1)(el: Please provide a discussion of the present productivity of soils in <br />undisturbed areas in the vicinity of the mine site. Please compare this productivity to that <br />of the soils to be used for reclamation of the disturbed areas at the mine site, addressing in <br />particular the productivity of the areas that will receive only 4.5 inches of topsoil. <br />3. Rule 2.04.9(3): Should the responses to Item 2 of this letter demonstrate that the 4.5- <br />inch topsoil replacement depth be insufficient to achieve vegetation sufficient to support a <br />rangeland use, please discuss how much additional topsoil will be needed, and whether <br />any overburden materials will be selected as topsoil substitutes or supplements. If over- <br />burden materials will be used, please provide results of any analyses, trials, and tests <br />described in Rule 4.06.2. <br />4. Rule 2.05.3(3): Pages 348 through 356d of the permit application provide a narrative of <br />the mine facilities. Please provide an updated narrative, describing those facilities that <br />have been removed and those facilities previously approved to be removed that are now <br />
