This development
work requires widening of the old entries from about twelve (12) feet
currently existing to approximately eighteen (18) to twenty (20) feet
required for adequate ventilation and ample working room. During this
development work, old roof falls and rib sloughage must be cleaned up,
and floor re-establishment must be accomplished. Until adequate room f
and safe conditions are established, the Bear Coal Company must remove
this underground development waste from the mine and store it on the
surface.
The Bear Coal Company foresees only minor amounts of underground
development waste to be removed during the development stage and
hauled to the surface. A small temporary underground development
waste stockpile of approximately 300 tons is necessary. •
Once underground development work is completed and sufficient room is
established, the temporary underground development waste stored on the
surface will be hauled back into the mine for disposal. In addition,
any underground development waste encountered during actual mining
will be deposited underground; however, the Bear Coal Company would
like some future flexibility in storing temporarily underground
development waste on the surface when safety issues are involved.
