~ III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII • <br />~r% ~~~e <br />Battle Mountain Gold <br />3/31/92 Notice of Probable Violation <br />Status & Progress on Abatement Plan Requirements <br />(Permit No: M-88-112) <br />Updated as of October 22, 1992 <br />Progress Since Last Report Dated August 25, 1992 <br />As abatement for the Notice of Violation issued to Battle Mountain Gold (BMG) on March <br />31, 1992, the Mined Land Reclamation Board imposed the following abatement <br />requirements, as proposed by the Division with amendments, as noted. <br />(1) Increased Tailings Area Security: <br />Status: September 18, 1992, BMG requested an end to tailings area security. <br />DMG denied the request and tailings area security continues to date. <br />(2) Assessment of Environmental Impact: <br />Status: Unchanged from August Report <br />Satisfied -BMG submitted acceptable report April 1 3, 1992. <br />13) Accelerated Frequency of Environmental Monitoring: <br />Status: Implemented -BMG is complying with the accelerated frequency. <br />DMG has declined to approve relaxation. <br />(4) Tailings Cyanide Detoxification: <br />Status: Ongoing - In compliance <br />Progress: - BMG discontinued the use of Cytox. <br />- BMG continued hydrogen peroxide treatment in accordance <br />with TR-007. <br />- DMG inspected INCO circuit construction September 14, <br />1992. <br />- BMG completed construction of INCO SOZ circuit, <br />approximately October 15, 1992. <br />- BMG requested continued use of Hydrogen peroxide. <br />- DMG approved use of hydrogen peroxide beyond qhe October <br />15, 1992 cut-off date until INCO SOZ system on line or <br />November 15th, which ever comes first. <br />- BMG reported INCO circuit on line October 21 , 1992. <br />
