MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SM ELTON, DlnMOr
,~
Ricnar0 D. Lamm
Governor
December 12, 1984
Ms. Paige Beville
Anaconda Minerals Company
555 17th Street
Denver, Colorado 80202
RE: Fan Site Technical Revision - Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mine
Dear Ms. Beville:
The Division has completed its adequacy review of the above referenced
technical revision. The following are our comments for your consideration:
Designs and flow calculations need to be submitted to verify that the
proposed 18" culvert far Sylvester Gulch is adequate to pass the 10
year 24 hour event.
2. Eighteen inches of topsail is to be stripped from the fan site for use
later in reclamation. Since some areas have already been disturbed,
how will the operator obtain sufficient topsoil to reclaim all the
areas (including previously disturbed). Has sufficient sampling been
done to verify suitable plant growth material is availablet
3. The Division has determined that your road to the fan site qualifies as
an access road since it will be used on a regular basis. Your designs
appear to meet the regulations with the exception that the road
drainage system needs to address the requirements of Rule 4.03.2(4). A
typical ditch design needs to be provided along with ditch segments and
ditch relief paints indicated on a map. Additional information should
also be provided to clarify whether and how much road widening, road
cutting, and road fill may be needed.
4. The access road and the power line corridor need to be included within
the permit boundary. Please include a map that indicates the requested
permit boundary. The master permit boundary map in the permit
application will also need to be modified to reflect this change.
5. The reclamation plan for the pad should address backfilling the site to
approximate original contour. Small scale maps showing premining and
post mining topography should also be submitted. The bond calculations
should reflect the costs needed to achieve the postmining configuration.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
