Luc hhead <br />i~,,,~~~~„~,r~~r,e1,,, <br />~~,I~.~rIH in~p <br />Dia,u~n o~~e~~"r <br />Re: Deserado Mine (Permit No. C-81-O18) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 44 <br />Drill Vent Holes Panel LW10 <br />Dear Mr. Kline: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised S[a[utes, that on March 24, 1997, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Deserado Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted <br />by Westem Fuels Utah, Inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations <br />initiate from [his date of filing. <br />The proposal would relocate previously approved de-gas venthole LW 10-I and allow for drilling of an additional <br />six ventholes over longwall panel #10 (LW 10-2 to LW 10-7). Approximately 1.4 acres would be disturbed by <br />drill pads, and 1.1 acres by light use roads to access [he sites. All disturbed areas are within the existing mine <br />permit boundary. Drainage control and site reclamation is addressed in the application. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 10 miles east of Rangely, Colorado, <br />within T2N, RIOIW, and T3N, RIOIW, 6th P.M. in Rio Blanco County. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map entitled "Rangely NE". <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Town Clerks Office, Town <br />Hall, in Rangely, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact <br />the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, <br />(303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted <br />within fifteen (I S) days of [his letter.
