Box 229 <br />Boulder, CO 80306 <br />Re: PR-1, Bourg Mine, Walden Coal Company, C-81-021 <br />Dear Ms. James: <br />I had understood from our previous meetings, and our discussion on the phone <br />on May 18, 1988 that Flatiron would submit the parameters and assumptions for <br />the distrubed (mulched soil) case which would be used in SEDIMOT (watershed <br />input parameters and sediment basin input parameters per the SEDIMOT Design <br />Manual), as well as responses to our questions of February 24, 1988. The <br />intent of acquiring approval on these parameters would preclude the necessity <br />of performing multiple computer runs. Please include your proposed inputs in <br />the submittal. <br />The following comments are responses to your adequacy letter. Please clarify <br />the responses to MLRD questions 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 12 and 13. l have <br />requested commitments for the submittal of as-built designs within 30 days of <br />construction as well as a commitment for the submittal of monitoring datz. <br />These commitments will ensure that actual construction reinforces the design <br />and that re-mulching and seeding can be performed in a timely manner, if <br />necessary. <br />MLRD <br />Adequacy MRA <br />Letter Response Comment/Question <br />1 The submitted map is an adequate response to our <br />request. <br />2 1 The sampling locations map should have a name and <br />number. <br />° There are 15 sites shown on the map for which data <br />is not given--Site Nos. 14, 17, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, <br />28, 29, 35, 36, 65 66, 67 and 68. <br />° Site No. 21 is not identified on the map. <br />° Please discuss the condition of the adjacent <br />("undisturbed") land per the second paragraph of <br />page 2 of MLRD's 2/24/88 letter. <br />215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 7e1.
