~ ROBINSON ~
BRICK ~
COMPANY ~
~E~~
~ ~
iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
999
~~~~~~~~
tdAR 1 B 190
March 14, 1990
Mr. Gregg Squire
Mined Land Reclamation Division
215 Centennial Bldg.
1313 Sherman
Denver, Colorado 80203
^INED LAlvf
RE: Amendment to Permit M-78-1t; Robinson Brick Company; Buffalo
Mine; 2nd Adequacy Reply.
Dear Mr. Squire:
This letter is intended to satisfy the concerns expressed in your
letter of 3/73/90.
t. The proposed wheat x wheatgrass cover crop seed will be
reduced to 5 pounds/acre. At X1.60/pound, the cost for the wheat
x wheatgrass would be $8.00/acre.
2. The maximum volume of material which will have to be cut from
the highwall during the final reclamation in any phase is based
on the following assumptions:
a. The maximum height of the highwall will be 40 feet,
b. The highwall slope will be between 1h:ty and 2h:1v,
averaging 1.5h:iv,
c. The maximum length of highwall will be 600 feet (1/2
that length will be in ramps with a highwall height varying
from 0' to 40', and the other half with a height of 40'),
d. Approximately 500 yds3 of topsoil will be removed from
above the area to be cut and used for topsoiling previously
backfilled areas (size of area is 60 feet in width above
main highwall and tapering to 0 at the ends of the highwall.
Based on these assumptions, the total volume of material from the
highwall will be 20,000 bank yds3 of overburden and 500 yds3 of
topsoil. A maximum additional volume of 10,000 yds3 of
overburden stockpiled from the original cuts will also be used as
backfill; bringing the total amount of overburden to be spread to
30,000 yds3.
3. Another Exhibit L - Reclamation Costs - is being submitted
with this letter and reflects the cost of the seed noted in item
1 and the change in volume of backfill material from item 2.
1845 West Dartmouth • P.O.
