Doc Date:1 211 112 0 01
III III IIIIIIIIIIIII
Gjl~, Section 2.05 APPLICATION FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING
ACTIVITIES--MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION.
Section 2.05.1 Objectives
The objectives of 2.05 are to ensure that the Division is
provided with comprehensive and reliable information on proposed
coal mining and reclamation operations.
Section 2.05.2 Operation Plan - Estimated Area for Life of Opera-
tion.
A general description of sll surface coal mining operations
proposed to be conducted during the life of the operation.
(1) A narrative description of the general type and method of
coal mining procedures, engineering techniques, anticipated an-
nual and total production of coal by tonnage and the major equip-
ment to be used.
The intent of this permit renewal as of this revision date ie
only to define the reclamation plan and obligations. The mine ie
currently in permanent cessation and permanent and final reclana-
tion is now planned for 1988.
The life of mine mining method is expected to be underground and
pillar mining. Map 2.05.2(2)-1 shows a theoretical life of mine
layout for mining in the Red Canyon #1 and #2 Mines. The bound-
ary shown on the map was established assuming mining south near
the outcrop, east to an implied fault zone, north to 2,500'
cover, and west to lower quality coal. This boundary is not con-
wishes to have this long term map kept confidential. The federal
coal within this boundary was presented to the Bureau of Land
Management as an "area of interest" for their Uncompaghre Basin
Resource Management Plan in September, 1983. Grand Mesa Coal
Company feels that this operation has the only easy access to
this block of coal, due to past mining practices, burn at the
outcrop, and alluvial cover over the outcrop.
Annual production for the Long Term Projection Map 2.05.2(2)-1
C
-78- Revised June 16, 1988
