COLORADO 91052
•ptember 5. 1984 <
Re: Well field pit- file no. M-84-154 (your letter 8-30-84)
Deaz Mr. Loye,
Exhibit B
.RECEIVED
S fP 121984
MINED LApp REC(AMAiION DIVISION
Colo. Dept o/Natural Resource
1. Upon review of the report submitted by the Soil Conservation Service, xe agree that
no topsoil should be mined, and that the topsoil should be saved for use in reclamation.
2. Atypical depth to which the topsoil xould be salvaged would be ± 12".
3. I visted with the Soil Conservation on planting the topsoil stockpiles, and they
have no objections to using either of the proposed plans.
4, The estimated life of the mining operation is 15 to 20 years.
$. The estimated depth of the pit area would be ± 20QQ'.
6. The only time thzt there is xater in the east side of the proposed pit, is during
the late summer months when canal xater is released into the general area and alloxed
to dissipate into the ground for purpose of recharging the well xater system, The
water does not remain on the surface long after the inlet soruce is curtailed.
7. Screening x111 occur in the pit site, close to the p;~ase or area that is being mined,
because the screened gravel is to be used in read repair and constr~ctlon, ,+e x111
not require a stock pile of any great size,
i:r..`Sbit D
1. :ildlife- :he Division of Wildlife is undertaking their study as of this date
(.'-,eptember 4, 2984) aid hill fo_•ward the report xhen finished.
.. Ws'_er Resources- During the late summer months
`,.heir xater well field s}'stem by flooding an a
East of the proposed pit area. I,Ihen said area
the east side or the proposed pit area x111 be
excavations full of xater.
the City o: Lamar recharges part of
ma which is generally located north-
is impacted by the recharge water,
under xater, and the fL~ger t}•pe
a, fhe eas;, side of tt,e proposed pit is existing at approximatley the depth of the finished
excavation of the pit.
b. Almost az1 of the xater dissipates in to the ground when the water Smpoundment
process is finished in .late summer.
c. During the impoundment period the mining process will shift away from the flooded
area, thus the mining x111 be done under dry conditions.
