5'~ 2.05 OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLAN -
2.05.2 OPERATION PLAN - ESTIMATED AREA FOR LIFE OF OPERATION III III'III+I'IIIIII
Doc Date:12/11/2001 sse
1). Production Methods and Ecruioment
• Twin Pines N0. 2 Mine is operated as a one section unucis~..und coal
mine. Present plans will utilize a five main entries with sections of
five entries each. Sections will be developed to the extent of the
reserves, with pillars removed on retreat to within 10D feet of the
main entries. The section will then be sealed and development of the
next section started. The planned sequence of mining is shown of drawing
no. TP-2, General Mine Plan.
Coal is mined at Twin Pines with continuous miners and/or conventional
methods. The mine produces steam coal and conventional coal. The type
of coal and/or method of mining is dictated by the current market
demand. To date the coal has been transported by shuttle car to the 42
inch belt line in the main. Conventional coal is cut, drilled and shot,
and loaded into shuttle cars. The coal is transported to facilities at
Twin Pines Coal Sales for sizing and sales. The mine roof is supported
by roof bolts or root bolts and pans. Timber Props and cross bars are
utilized in unstable areas.
From June 1985 to date the mine has produced 120,330 tons of coal. With
an average production of about 150 tons/day. With the five entry system,
production can be increased if the market so dictates. Presently the
mine operates on a single shift. A second shift will be initated if
required.
• 2). Estimated Area for the Life of the GDeration
Twin Pines No. 2 Mine will encompass an area of approximately 120 acres
as shown on Drawing No. TP-2. The area was defined anr? extrapolated
form thirteen test hole, and the extent of abandoned mine workings to
the east. Coal thickness has averaged 5 feet with ranges from 6 feet to
4 feet. Total remaining reserves are estimated at 950,000 tons with
about 525,000 tons remaining for sales. A portion of the reserves may
not be usable without cleaning facilities. Target dates for development
of the mine are shown of drawing no. TP-2.
The mine plan has been developed t.o provide flexitility to meet fluctu-
' ations in market demands and to extract the maximum amount of coal
available in the reserve. Mining ad9acent to existing working3 will be
carried out with extreme caution utilizing the best available methods
of monitoring and detecting unsafe conditions.
~,7 & 68 (rev 8/17/d9)

enc `~~Chris ~t
Reed
