PARAGON ENGINEERING, INC.
ENGINEERS, PLANNERS, ARCHITECTS
September 9, 1983
Mr. James B. McArdle
Dept. of Natural Resources
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Bldg. 1313 Sherman St.
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Hall Pit - File 1183-142
Dear Mr. McArdle:
~I I I I~ I I~ I I~ I~~I I~~
RECEIVED
SEP 141983
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
Colo. Dept. of Natural Resources
In response to your comments and questions in your letter of
August 30, 1983, I would offer the following:
A.1. - The site is vacant, unirrigated desert land.
A.2, - After the mining operation is complete, Mr. Hall intends
to petition the Mesa County Commissioners for a change
in zoning to residential. This is in accordance with
County Regulations which state that recoverable resources
must be removed prior to development. While at present
the site has not been approved for residential development,
nor has that approval been requested, that is the ultimate
proposed use for the land. If this were not approved, the
land would continue in the state it is today.
B.1. - The contour interval on the site is two feet, with ten foot
intervals on the steeper areas. The ten foot lines have
been emphasized to clarify the difference. Refer to
Exhibit "C" (R-1) enclosed.
C.1. - The gravel layer extends to the surface, and there is no
topsoil layer that can be stripped. Fines can be separated
during the processing to use in the reclamation phases.
These will be stockpiled at the processing site. As
stated on the reclamation plan, at least five feet of
gravel will be left in place to protect the bedrock, and
soil placed over this.
C.2. - If any stockpiles stand for over one year, they will be
seeded.
C.3. - Please see reply to C.1.
C.4. - Field observation
2784 Crossroads Blvd., Suite 104
Grand Junction, Colorado 81501
Phone (303) 243-8966
