•
Mr. James B. McArdle Page 2 September 9, 1983
D.1. - The operator will have to salvage fines and whatever
topsoil/overburden he can for reclamation regardless of
the future use.
D.2. - This is true.
D.3. - This is an acceptable seed mixture.
D.4. - There is no equipment available locally to crimp a
straw mulch. A possible alternative is hydro-seeding.
E.1. - Please refer to the enclosed full-sized plan for
Exhibit "F" (R-1).
F.1. - Natural drainageways convey runoff from two small basins.
The basin on the south side of the ridge contains *_ thirteen
acres, with a peak flow of eight c.f.s. in a ten year storm.
The basin on the north side of the ridge contains ± 11'~
acres, and a seven c.f.s. peak flow. Although the flows
are small, settling basins will be graded out at the
4878 elevation. This is shown on Exhibit "F" (R-1).
F.2. - The settling basins mentioned above will remain in use
as stone water detention basins in the future proposed
residential subdivision.
G.1. - There appears to be a discrepancy between the Grand
Junction Area and Mesa County Area Soils Surveys, both
from the Soils Conservation Survey. Copies of both
maps and descriptions are enclosed as Exhibits "I"
(R-lj and "I" (R-2).
G.2. - Please see Reply G.1. above
G.3. - Please refer to Exhibits "I" (R-1) and "I" (R-2).
H.1. - Equipment to be used in the mining operation are:
7D25 International with dozer, 631 scraper, 14 G Cat Blade.
H.2. - Because the "dirt" involved in the reclamation will be
mainly processed fines, the quantity generated cannot
be estimated before hand. Haul distances (from the
Processing Site) are:
Phase 1 600 feet maximum
Phase 2 900 feet maximum
Phase 3 1,300 feet maximum
Phase 4 1,600 feet maximum
Phase 5 2,300 feet maximum
