Trucking and Excavation Inc. File No. M11-2000-103, New 110 Applicati
Adequacy Review Response.
Dear Mr. Oswald,
The following is in response to the adequacy issues addressed in your Segtember~l2°i letter.
~i:..
ADEQUACY ISSUES ~~'`~~
Exhibit B - Si[e Description
Steep slopes, with no clearly defined natural drainageways surround the site. In a change to the
original mining plan, a pair of retention ponds will be located on the existing bench. with an
upslope diversion ditch directing drainage into the ponds. Please see revised mining plan map.
Please see attached soil map obtained from the Soil Survey of La Plata County Area conducted by
the United States Dep[. of AgriculRue and the Soil Conservation Service [o support [he soil
descriptions.
Exhibit C -Mining Plan
As the excavation of soil proceeds into the slope, it will get deeper relative to existing bench,
however it will at no time be deeper than the existing bench. Muring will be conducted in such a
way that the high wall slope gradient will be maintained at the final reclamation slope gradient
bet+aeen 2H:1 V and 3H:1 V during excavation. 3H:1 V slopes would be nearly impossible given
the surrounding topography. Soil types and surrounding topography are consistent with steeper
than 3: I slopes. The floor configuration will be relativeh smooth and flat, and the gradient will
bet 1%to provide drainage into proposed retaining ponds and away from daylighting slopes,
with straw bails acting as sediment controls.
The woody debris cleared for mining will be salvaged as much as possible for posts acid
firewood. Any remaining debris will be burned on site
The processing and loading area will consist of a rubber tired front loader dumping soil
through a fixed screening device. The soil will then be loaded into dump trucks for
transport.
In a change [o the original mining plan, runoff will not be directed toward [he natural
drainage, rather into retention ponds described above and shown on revised mining map.
Received
~~T 1 2 2000
Opp c ~ e /~ s Gep °9Y
d.b.a.
