I have been asked <br />to address questions that you have regarding Exhibit G-Water Information, under Items 1 <br />and 2. <br />We have enclosed a map that defines the boundaries of the 100-year floodplain for the <br />Cache la Poudre River relative to the proposed project, as well as the floodway path. As <br />you may or may not be aware, this azea has recently been studied by the Corps of <br />Engineers and maps regazding the floodway aze not specifically defined in this area. <br />Pickett Engineering has recently prepazed an evaluation of~the flood modeling that was <br />done by the Corps of Engineers, specifically in reference to this project, to determine the <br />bounds of the floodway. Those are reflected on the enclosed plan. We have also <br />included the current 100-year floodplain elevations. <br />We believe the flow path, both during and after mining, will be approximately the same. <br />Certainly, when the mine area is excavated this may reduce the floodway azea due to the <br />fact that a lazge void will be available for floodwaters to fill. Following reclamation, if <br />these are used as open water parks, those voids will be filled and the flow path will return <br />to approximately that which has been modeled on the existing ground. <br />The map indicates that all product, overburden, and topsoil stockpiles will be located <br />outside the boundaries of the 100-year floodway.
