The applicant has not been
granted permission for the proposed mine from Weld County. The application should
either be dismissed or held in abeyance until this is resolved. Also, public notice is no
longer posted at the site as of May 19, 2003, and for sometime prior. In additiori the size
of the notice was really not designed to attract attention. It was very small and was in the
borrow pit of the road and was hard to see. We doubt that this was adequate pui lic
notice.
We generally object to the granting of this application because it is unnecessary and
poses an extreme burden on the Lupton Meadows Community. Currently we have four
(4) gravel mines operating in close proximity to our home. The proposed Heit Mine is
about %2 mile from our home.
The Heit Mine is TOTALLYINCOMPATIBLEtyith the azea because it increases the
mining intrusion and would include asphalt and cement components. This azea is
agricultural and residential and the proposed use is HEAVYINDUSTRIAL which is
totally incompatible with surrounding uses.
Granting this request will effect the environment in that noise, dust and traffic will
disturb residents and wildlife. The land will be transformed from a pristine 101 acres of
farmland to a hole in the ground that will create an environment for the mosquito
population and thus increase the possibility of the spread of West Nile Virus. This could
not possibly benefit this community. The enclosed picture is the Heit farm just prior to
planting season. Another consequence of allowing this application is the decrease in
