Dear Mr. Funston,
Mr. Geisert has had difficulty in obtaining a bond in the amount of $23,500
for two reasons: (1) The length of time involved to project completion,
and (2) The amount appears excessive in comparison to similar operations
in this area.
We have therefore reviewed the areas of "Site Disturbances" in the original
report and find that two errors were made and several modifications can
reasonably be made which will give a fairer evaluation of the amount of site
disturbance at any period during the life of the gravel pit operation.
The errors were as follows:
1. The column of "Moderate Disturbance" included Area 10 (6.0 Acres)
throughout the project, where in fact, this area is not being mined
and all except the maintainance area (1.0± Acres) will be levelled
and reclaimed during Phase 1.
2. Area 9 included in Phase 8 is the old land fill area. This area
will not be mined and therefore, it should not be included in any
phase of site disturbance. The area will retain its existing natu-
ral cover until it is added in the final stage to complete the de-
velopment of the recreation area.
Modifications were made in each phase by analyzing the area being mined and
breaking down the areas into the acres actually being mined and the areas
which are remaining in a reasonably natural state as dikes between the ponds
