C-96-083, BOWIE RESOURCE6 <br />LIMITED. <br />I have finished my review of the surface water and ground water <br />hydrology information that had been submitted for the Bowie No. 2 <br />Mine. In general, the information was presented in a very orderly <br />and professional manner. However, due to the complexity of the <br />surface water drainage system, maintenance problems may be <br />plentiful. There are twenty culverts that will be 12 inches in <br />diameter. Such culverts routinely are prone to clogging. Also, <br />several culverts have bends in them. These may be prone to blockage <br />problems as well. Finally, there are several ditches which have <br />severe bends in them. Breaching at these locations is not hard to <br />imagine. <br />The Division does have some questions or comments: <br />2.04.7 HYDROLOGY DESCRIPTION <br />On page 2.04-22 of the permit application, it is stated that <br />monitoring hole completion drawings are in Exhibit 3. However, <br />they do not appear to be in that exhibit. Please submit such <br />drawings, or state where in the permit the drawings are <br />located. <br />On page 2.04-22 of the permit application it is stated that <br />the groundwater investigation was performed over the area <br />bounded by Terror Creek, Hubbard Creek and the North Fork of <br />the Gunnison. In fact, Map 9, Hydrologic Monitoring Location <br />Map, shows that there are no monitoring wells outside the <br />permit area. On page 2.04-22, it is stated that the field <br />investigation for surficial hydrologic features, such as <br />springs and seeps, was conducted only within the permit area. <br />
